Since Daniel Craig quit James Bond in 2021 after No Time To Die, the hunt has been on for who the next James Bond will be.
Bond bosses Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson have confessed they’re looking for the next 007 star, but they will likely not announce anything official for another year or so.
With that said, Idris Elba – one of the mainstays in the Bond odds – has just had his odds slashed drastically after a new trailer dropped.
Previously, Bond bosses said he was “part of the conversation” when it comes to the next Bond movie – and these new odds from Coral now reflect that.
The leading bookmaker has given Elba an incredible 7/1 odds on becoming the next James Bond, down from 14/1 in the last 24 hours.

Elba’s increased support from fans follows the release of the Apple TV Plus trailer for Hijack.
The upcoming TV show has Elba taking on a stark and commanding role as Sam Nelson, a businessman using his skills to bring a peaceful end to a flight hijacking.
Coral’s John Hill said: “The trailer to Hijack has prompted support behind Idris Elba becoming the next James Bond. This latest series is likely to strengthen Elba’s chances of being offered the iconic 007 role, which is why his odds have been slashed in half in our betting.”
Elba himself has said he doesn’t want the role, though. “It is not a goal for my career,” he recently explained. “I don’t think that playing Bond will satisfy some of my personal goals. It will definitely satisfy the will of a nation. I’m not gonna lie, every corner of the world I go, and I’m talking about different cultures, they always go ‘Bond.’ And I feel it is beyond me at this junction. It’s beyond me. It’s not a question of, should I, do I, will I. It is what the will of the nation dictates sometimes.”
With that said, Elba has some major competition in the Bond odds. At the top of the list right now is Aaron Taylor-Johnson who has 15/8 on becoming the suave spy, and with rumours surfacing that he has already done some screen tests for Bond bosses, things could happen very quickly.
Meanwhile, Happy Valley star James Norton is also up for the role with a staggering 5/2.
