Wolverine MCU movie ‘in the works for 2024’ – Will Hugh Jackman feature as a variant? | Films | Entertainment

Hugh Jackman has played Wolverine across nine X-Men movies: three X-Men films, three prequels and a Wolverine solo trilogy. But after killing off his mutant in Logan, the Aussie star has said he’s done with the role and looks forward to seeing another actor take him on. And now with Disney having announced four mystery Marvel movies for 2024, insiders claim one of them will be a Wolverine MCU solo outing.

According to Geekosity’s Marvel sources, this new Wolverine movie will mark the 50th anniversary of the X-Men character’s debut in 1974.

Allegedly, the film will see Logan fight Hulk, just as he did in his first Marvel comics appearances, The Incredible Hulk No 180 and 181.

But instead of Smart Hulk aka Professor Hulk in Avengers Endgame, this incarnation will be Immortal Hulk.

This version of Hulk is content to wait inside Bruce Banner and is the most powerful one yet.

With this in mind, perhaps Marvel Studios will cast an MCU Wolverine but try and convince Jackman to return as a variant at some point.

Back in April, the same outlet claimed that the studio had approached the Aussie star about reprising the role.

The Marvel insiders claimed Jackman is now open to at least reading a script after Marvel boss Kevin Feige reassured him this wouldn’t be the same Wolverine as Logan, but another one from across the multiverse.

The actor has since shared pictures with Feige on his Instagram but denied there was anything to them.

Jackman told ComicBook.com last month: “I literally was re-posting fan art and I do it quite a bit because I just love it. And I love the fans. And then I was off doing something and I came back and I’m like, ‘Oh, I think I broke the Internet.

“No, no, no, no. Guys, sorry. Didn’t mean that. I really didn’t mean that. I’m really sorry.’

“And I thought, ‘No one’s going to believe me.’ But that was the case. And you guys are just too fast for me.

“Clearly way too fast and smarter than me. I just love the fans. And so, when cool things come my way, I’m going to pass it on.”
